GH2 - Green HydroGen System

The GH2 is a unique fuel processor generating a hydrogen rich stream suitable for PEM fuel cells. Developed to process biofuels (bio-ethanol, bio-gas), it can also process natural gas, LPG and other fuels. Highly heat integrated, offers one of the highest efficiencies achievable. Automated with advanced control systems, is designed for stand-alone unattended operation.

Applications

The HELBIO GH2 Green HydroGensystem can be used to generate hydrogen suitable for PEM and other fuel cells. Coupled with a fuel cell, it can be used for Combined Heat and Power (CHP) production in connected or off-grid Distributed Generation (DG) applications. Coupled with a PSA system it can generate high-purity hydrogen for industrial applications (hydrogenation of edible or spent oils, electronics manufacturing, metals treatment, etc.).

Advantages

  • Nearly zero pollutant emissions and no net CO 2 emissions when operated with biofuels
  • Very high efficiency
  • Can generate hydrogen on-site and on-demand
  • Can produce high purity (>99.9%) hydrogen when coupled with PSA Safe.
  • Operates in steam reforming mode with catalytic combustion (no flame)
  • Highly automated with advanced control systems can operate unattended with remote monitoring
  • Can operate in remote, off-grid locations
  • Modular design with replaceable parts

Technology

The GH2 Green HydroGen is based on a number of technological innovations which include:

  • Efficient and robust catalysts which can operate for extended periods of time
  • Advanced heat exchanger type reactors which minimize required volumes
  • Innovative heat integration systems
  • The GH2 system operates in steam reforming mode, offering significant advantages over the ATR units.
  • GH2 offers a very efficient fuel processor which, when combined with a PSA, can produce high purity hydrogen for essentially
  • GH2 integrated with a PEM (or other type) fuel cell produces electricity and heat (CHP) with high efficiency.
